Colorado Springs, Colo. – Colorado State sophomore Tyler Colwell has been named the Mountain West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, while CSU sophomore Ismael Dembele was tabbed the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week and teammate Kyle Bigley was named the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week.

UNLV junior Natalia Ruiz has been selected as the MW Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, while Colorado State junior Mya Lesnar was named the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week and teammate Kajsa Borrman was tabbed the MW Women’s Freshman of the Week.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
TYLER COLWELL, COLORADO STATE
Sophomore, Channahon, Illinois/Minooka HS

  • Won the 60-meter dash at the Mines Alumni Classic, clocking a nation-leading time of 6.65 (altitude adjusted).
  • Time ties the school record for the 60-meter dash.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
ISMAEL DEMBELE, COLORADO STATE
Sophomore, Aurora, Colorado/Rangeview HS

  • Placed second in the long jump with a jump of 7.37 meters at the Mines Alumni Classic.
  • Mark ranks fifth in the nation.

MEN’S FRESHMAN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
KYLE BIGLEY, COLORADO STATE

Redshirt Freshman, Pueblo, Colorado/Pueblo Central HS

  • Claimed the shot put title at the Mines Alumni Classic with a throw of 18.22 meters.
  • Ranks fourth in the nation in shot put.
  • Also placed sixth in the weight throw with a distance of 17.28 meters.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
NATALIA RUIZ, UNLV
Junior, Madrid, Spain/Logos Internacional School

  • Placed 34th in the 3,000-meter run at the Sharon Colyear Danville Opener with a time of 9:21.39.
  • Broke the school record for the 3,000-meter run by 25 seconds.
  • Ranks 23rd in the nation.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MYA LESNAR, COLORADO STATE
Junior, Alexandria, Minnesota/Arizona State

  • Won the shot put at the Mines Alumni Classic with a throw of 18.50 meters, shattering CSU’s record.
  • Leads the nation in shot put.
  • Also won the weight throw with a mark of 21.11 meters, which ranks third in the nation.

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
KAJSA BORRMAN, COLORADO STATE
Freshman, Loveland, Colorado/Loveland HS

  • Debuted in the top 50 nationally in both the weight throw and shot put.
  • Placed fifth in the weight throw at the Mines Alumni Classic with a mark of 18.01 meters.
  • Finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.41 meters.
