COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NCAA released the initial NET rankings for the 2023-24 men’s basketball season on Monday morning and the Mountain West has five programs ranked in the top 36, which is the most of the non-autonomy conferences.

The Mountain West is one of four conferences (Big 12, Big Ten, SEC) to have five or more teams among the top 36 NET rankings.

Colorado State sits at No. 7, which is the highest ranking in the Conference, while Nevada is No. 21, San Diego State is No. 24, Utah State is No. 34 and New Mexico is No. 36.

The NET, which stands for the NCAA Evaluation Tool, replaced the RPI after the 2017-18 season and it is used as the primary sorting tool for selection and seeding for the NCAA tournament. The NET rankings will be updated daily through Selection Sunday.
