COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State graduate McKenna Hofschild has been named the MW Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while UNLV rookie Amarachi Kimpson has been named the MW Freshman of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MCKENNA HOFSCHILD, COLORADO STATE

Graduate, Guard, Prior Lake, Minnesota/Seton Hall

  • Led the Rams to a 2-0 week with wins over South Dakota Mines (92-56) and San Francisco (62-53).
  • Finished the week shooting 50 percent from the field and the three-point line, and 83 percent from the charity stripe. Also averaged 21.5 points, 10.0 assists and three steals per game.
  • Against South Dakota Mines, logged a double-double with 20 points and 14 assists. Her 14 assists marked her becoming the Colorado State all-time assists leader.
  • Against the Dons, logged 23 points, 18 of which came in the second half to help the Rams take the lead. Also posted six assists, five rebounds and four steals.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

AMARACHI KIMPSON, UNLV

Guard, Little Elm, Texas/Little Elm HS

  • Helped the Lady Rebels to a 2-0 week with wins over UC Santa Barbara (68-49) and San Diego (93-56).
  • Shot 44 percent from the field and was perfect from the free-throw line on four attempts. Averaged 9.5 points and four rebounds over the two contests.
  • Logged a career-high 10 points against UCSB, along with five rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal.
  • Against San Diego, registered nine points, three rebounds and one assist.
