Colorado State graduate Isaiah Stevens has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while New Mexico’s JT Toppin was tabbed the MW Freshman of the Week.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ISAIAH STEVENS, COLORADO STATE

Graduate, Guard, Allen, Texas/Allen HS

  • Led Colorado State to a pair of wins over Boston College (86-74) and No. 8 Creighton (69-48) to win the Hall of Fame Classic.
  • Named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament after averaging 19 points, 7.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 58.6 percent from the field.
  • Helped the Rams to their first win over a top-10 opponent since 1984 and the fifth in program history.
  • Against Boston College, recorded 18 points, eight assists and one board.
  • In the win over Creighton, registered 20 points, seven assists and six rebounds.

 

MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

JT TOPPIN, NEW MEXICO

Forward, Dallas, Texas/Faith Family Academy of Oak Cliff

  • Helped New Mexico to a 3-0 record at the Ball Dawgs Classic with victories over Toledo (92-84), Rice (90-56) and Pepperdine (90-71).
  • Averaged 17 points, 8.3 rebounds and three assists, while shooting 80.8 percent from the floor.
  • Became the first Lobo freshman to post consecutive double-doubles after recording a career-best 27 points and 11 boards against Toledo.
  • In the win over Rice, tallied 13 points, six rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
  • Against Pepperdine, recorded 11 points, eight boards, two assists and a block.
