COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The participants and host for the 2023 Mountain West Football Championship will be determined by computer rankings and announced the morning of Sunday, Nov. 26.
With San José State’s 37-31 win at UNLV on Saturday, the Spartans, Rebels and Boise State finished the regular season with identical 6-2 MW records. Since the Broncos and UNLV did not face each other this season, the three-way tie will be broken by computer rankings from Anderson & Hester, Colley Matrix, Massey and Wolfe.
The computer rankings will identify the two highest-ranked tied teams to participate in the championship game. Once those two teams are identified, the head-to-head result will determine the host. If the teams did not play each other in the regular season, the highest-ranked team in the computer rankings will host the championship game.
The MW Championship will be played on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. MT / 12 p.m. PT and will air on FOX. Jason Benetti (play-by-play), Brock Huard (analyst) and Allison Williams (sideline) will have the call.
The winner of the MW Championship will hoist the newly christened Craig Thompson Championship Trophy.
