COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Heading into the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Regionals, three Mountain West men’s and women’s programs are ranked in the NCAA Division I Cross Country polls, released Tuesday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

On the men’s side, New Mexico is ranked No. 19 with 133 points. The Lobos claimed the program’s seventh MW championship crown and first since 2014. UNM newcomer Habtom Samuel won the men’s individual title after clocking a championship-record time of 22:57.7.

Air Force moved up two spots and is No. 24 in the national poll with 78 points. Additionally, Boise State is receiving votes.

On the women’s side, Colorado State is ranked No. 27 with 48 points. The Rams won the program’s second MW championship title last week and first since 2007. CSU senior Sarah Carter clocked a 6k time of 19:48.5, becoming the first Ram to win the individual title since April Thomas in 2007.

Mountain West teams and individual runners now turn their attention to the NCAA Mountain or West Regionals, which will be held on Friday, Nov. 10.
