FRESNO, Calif. – Diamond ‘Dog alumni Aaron Judge has received the 2023 Roberto Clemente Award, Major League Baseball announced on Monday.

The Roberto Clemente Award, one of the MLB’s highest honors, annually recognizes a Major League player who best represents baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, on and off the field.

Judge founded the Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation in 2018. The ALL RISE Foundation aims to inspire children and youth to become responsible citizens by engaging them in activities that encourage them to reach unlimited possibilities, serving children in the Bronx, Linden, Calif. and Fresno, Calif. — communities that are near and dear to his heart.

The ALL RISE Foundation also honors those who positively influence children in the community. Since 2018, the ALL RISE Foundation has served over 2,000 children. Judge also aims to inspire young leaders via the ALL RISE Aspiring Leaders program, with an emphasis on leadership skills, community building and character development.

Judge, as well as his former head coach Mike Batesole, will be honored by Fresno State Athletics with a jersey retirement celebration during halftime of the Fresno State football game on November 18 at Valley Children’s Stadium, followed by a formal jersey retirement ceremony the next day, Sunday, November 19, at 1 p.m. at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium.
