COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – With the 2023 Mountain West Cross Country Championships just a few days away, the Colorado State women’s team and the Air Force men’s team were selected as the Conference favorites heading into the postseason, as voted by the league’s head coaches.

Leading up to the MW women’s championship, the Rams earned 10 first-place votes and 100 points. Colorado State enters the postseason ranked No. 25 in the national polls. Boise State is in second place after garnering 87 points and the remaining first-place vote.

Rounding out the MW women’s pre-championship poll is New Mexico in third (86 points), Wyoming in fourth (67 points), Utah State in fifth (62 points), Air Force in sixth (58 points), San Diego State in seventh (43 points), Nevada in eighth (34 points), Fresno State in ninth (27 points), UNLV in 10th (26 points) and San José State in 11th (15 points).

With five first-place votes and 60 points, Air Force enters the MW Men’s Cross Country Championship as the league favorite. The Falcons are ranked 26th in the nation heading into the Conference postseason race. Boise State placed second in the pre-championship poll after receiving 55 points and a first-place vote, while New Mexico was selected third with 53 points and the remaining three first-place votes.

Following the Lobos in the men’s poll are Utah State in fourth (40 points), Wyoming in fifth (37 points), Colorado State in sixth (34 points), Nevada in seventh (21 points), Fresno State in eighth (13 points) and San José State in ninth (11 points).

The 2023 Mountain West Cross Country Championships will be hosted by Boise State at Eagle Island State Park on Friday, Oct. 27. The men’s 8k race will start at 10:15 a.m. MT, while the women’s 6k race begins at 11 a.m. MT. Both championship races will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
