LAS VEGAS – UNLV Super Senior placekicker Jose Pizano has been named College Football Network Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, the outlet announced Sunday.

Pizano (piz-AH-no), who now leads the nation with 18 field goals (19 attempts), broke two school records to help his team to a 25-23 victory over Colorado State on Saturday night, which pushed the 6-1 Rebels to bowl eligibility for the first time since 2013.

The Lehi, Utah, native and transfer from Missouri State nailed six field goals, which also tied the Mountain West record for a single game, including the game-winner as time expired. In addition, his 19 total points shattered the UNLV single-game record for kicking. Pizano’s field goals measured 46, 43, 42, 34 and 28 yards. He shared this week’s national award with James Madison punter Ryan Hanson.

UNLV, which is also 3-0 in Mountain West play, will next head to Fresno State on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. game televised by FS1.
