FORT COLLINS – Colorado State defensive end Mohamed Kamara was added to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award on Thursday.
Kamara, the nation’s sack leader, was recently named a midseason All-American by CBS Sports and the Associated Press. The Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1994 and is named in honor of Chuck “Concrete Charlie” Bednarik. Kamara joins fellow Ram Jack Howell on the watch list.
The Central, N.J., native – a team captain as selected by his teammates – currently sits at No. 3 all-time at Colorado State with 27.0 sacks, and he is 1.5 away from tying Brady Smith (1992-95; 28.5) for second all-time and six away from tying Clark Haggans (1996-99; 33.0) for the most all-time. On the tackles for loss chart, Kamara sits at No. 6 with 40.0 and 2.0 TFLs away from moving into a tie for third.
