ATLANTA, Ga. (Aug. 1, 2023) – The Wyoming women’s basketball team earned special consideration for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) Academic Top-25 Honor Roll, announced Tuesday by the association.

The Cowgirls earned recognition thanks to their 3.42 team GPA for the 2022-23 academic year. A total of nine Cowgirls were named to the Academic All-Mountain West Team this year, while eight student-athletes were named Mountain West Scholar-Athletes. Teams that had a 3.0 GPA or better, that didn’t reach the top-25, received special mention.

On the court in 2022-23, UW finished second in the Mountain West while making an appearance in the Mountain West Tournament Championship Game. Wyoming advanced to the Second Round of the Women’s NIT, where it fell at Kansas State. The Cowgirls also had three student-athletes receive all-conference honors last season as Allyson Fertig and Quinn Weidemann were named to the All-Mountain West Team. Malene Pedersen, meanwhile, was named the league’s Freshman of the Year.
