AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST  

• San Diego State is making its first (and the Mountain West’s first) appearance at the NCAA Final Four. 
• The Mountain West is 4-3 in the NCAA tournament in 2023, tying for the most NCAA tournament wins in a single postseason in league history. The Mountain West also recorded four wins in 2011.
• Heading into the Final Four, the Mountain West has earned a Conference-record eight units during March Madness, which ranks sixth among the 32 leagues in 2023. The projected payout over the next six years is $16 million for the MW.
• The MW is one of eight conferences to have a .550 win percentage or better in the 2023 NCAA tournament.
• SDSU is the only team west of the Mississippi River headed to the final four.
• A total of six Mountain West squads appeared in the 2023 postseason. Four teams (Boise State, Nevada, San Diego State and Utah State) earned bids to the NCAA tournament. New Mexico received a bid to play in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), while San José State accepted an invitation to play in College Basketball Invitational (CBl).
• Four teams in the NCAA tournament marks the second time in league history with back-to-back seasons of four or more NCAA tournament bids. The MW had four in 2012 and five in 2013.
• The Mountain West is one of six conferences (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, SEC) to have back-to-back seasons with four or more NCAA tournament bids in 2022 and 2023.
• The MW is one of seven conferences in 2023 (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC) to have four or more teams earn NCAA tournament bids. 
• 2023 marks the fifth-straight NCAA tournament that the MW has had multiple bids and the 20th time in Conference history to have two or more teams earn bids. 
• For the second year in a row, and the eighth time since 2000, the Mountain West has six or more teams in the postseason.
• With four teams in the NCAA tournament in 2023, the Mountain West has 59 NCAA appearances in league history.
• Seven of the 11 MW teams have played in the NCAA tournament over the last eight seasons.
• San Diego State has won 14 of its last 15 games (14-1) and 18 of its last 20 (18-2) with the two losses coming on the road against NCAA tournament teams Nevada (14-2 at home) and Boise State (14-1 at home).
• San Diego State has 10 NCAA tournament appearances in the last 13 seasons that a champion has been crowned. That total does not include the 2019-20 season when SDSU was 30-2 and ranked sixth in the AP poll when the season was canceled due to COVID-19 prior to the NCAA tournament.
