COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Air Force sophomore Javin Bostic has been named the Mountain West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week and Air Force junior Brandon Lindner was tabbed the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Air Force’s Nic Davis was selected the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week.
 
UNLV sophomore Shakeira Bowra has been named the MW Women’s Track Athlete of the Week and Air Force senior Katie Van Havel was named the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, while UNLV’s Jana Lakner was tabbed as the MW Women’s Freshman of the Week.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
JAVIN BOSTIC, AIR FORCE
Sophomore, Stockbridge, Georgia/Woodland HS

  • Won the 60-meter sprint at the Air Force Collegiate Open after clocking a personal-best time of 6.71.
  • Time set the Academy sophomore record and is the second-fastest time in Air Force history.  

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
BRANDON LINDNER, AIR FORCE
Junior, Tracy, California/Merrill F. West HS

  • Won the long jump at the Air Force Collegiate Open with a career-best mark of 7.35 meters, which ranks sixth in the Conference this season.
  • Placed first in the triple jump with a personal-best jump of 14.87 meters, which ranks third in the MW this season.

MEN’S FRESHMAN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
NIC DAVIS, AIR FORCE
North Platte, Nebraska/North Platte HS

  • Top collegiate finisher in the shot put at the Air Force Collegiate Open, recording a throw of 14.71 meters.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
SHAKEIRA BOWRA, UNLV
Sophomore, St. Catherine, Jamaica

  • Placed fourth in the 60-meter dash at the NAU Tune Up, clocking a career-best time of 7.59.
  • Currently ranked among the top 15 in the MW this season.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
KATIE VAN HAVEL, AIR FORCE
Senior, Hudson, Michigan/Hillsdale Academy

  • Placed third in the long jump at the Air Force Collegiate Open with a career-best jump of 5.52 meters.
  • Became just the second Falcon in 12 years to breach the 18-foot barrier in the long jump.

WOMEN’S FRESHMAN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
JANA LAKNER, UNLV
Landshut, Bavaria

  • Won the 400-meter dash at the NAU Tune Up, clocking a personal-best time of 56.24.
  • Currently ranked among the top 20 in the MW in 2023.
