COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West has five cross country teams and seven individuals headed to the 2022 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 19, at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course located in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
 
New Mexico women’s cross country was one of two automatic qualifiers from the NCAA Mountain Region after claiming the region team title for the second year in a row and third time since 2018. Gracelyn Larkin was the first Lobo to cross the finish line, placing fifth with a time of 20:05.9. New Mexico had five runners finish among the top 25.
 
Also qualifying for the 2022 NCAA championship is Colorado State after earning women’s at-large selections. The Rams are making just their third trip to the national meet since 2007.
 
Additionally, Air Force’s Halle Hamilton, Boise State’s Yasmin Marghini, Utah State’s Micaela Rivera and Analee Weaver and Wyoming’s Katelyn Mitchem earned individual at-large bids. Mitchem is the first Cowgirl to run at the NCAA championship since 2014, while Hamilton is the first Falcon to earn an at-large bid since 2018. The Aggies have had at least one runner in the last three NCAA championships, while Boise State has had at least one runner in five of the last six years. 
 
On the men’s side, Air Force, Colorado State and Utah State earned an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA championship. The Falcons are making their fifth NCAA championship appearance in the last six years and third-consecutive trip to nationals. Colorado State is making its first appearance at the NCAA championship since 2018, while Utah State is making its fourth NCAA championship appearance.

Boise State’s Jonathan Shields and New Mexico’s Abdirizak Ibrahim earned individual at-large bids. For the third time since 2019, the Broncos will have at least one runner at the NCAA men’s championship. Ibrahim is making his third appearance at the NCAA championship after qualifying as an individual in 2020 and 2021.

The women’s race will begin at 9:20 a.m. CT, followed by the men’s race at 10:10 a.m. CT. Both races will be broadcast on ESPNU.
