COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Longtime Boise State Athletics administrator Christina Van Tol has been named the Dr. Albert C. Yates Distinguished Service Award winner for 2024-25.
Named in honor of the former Colorado State University president, the award is bestowed upon an individual who has served, supported and promoted the goals and ideals of the Mountain West or a member institution; an individual who, through personal effort and dedication, has enhanced the ability of the Conference and/or its member institutions to provide a positive experience for the student-athletes enrolled at any member institution.
Only 17 individuals have earned the distinction throughout the Conference’s 27-year history. Van Tol is the first from Boise State to receive the honor.
In her second stint with Boise State, Van Tol serves as the Broncos Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services and Senior Women’s Administrator, a role she has held since 2008.
Van Tol oversees Boise State’s academics, Bronco Life, sports performance and health and wellness, while also serving as a liaison for the athletic department with campus counseling, student affairs, institutional compliance and the gender equity center.
In addition to her day-to-day responsibilities at Boise State, Van Tol served an integral role in numerous initiatives around the MW, highlighted by her efforts in transforming the emphasis on student-athlete welfare, leading all MW member institutions to be at the forefront of this space. She has also been a mentor to several Conference counterparts, helping bring uniformity to the league.
During her time in the Mountain West, Van Tol has been a servant leader that has impacted thousands of student-athletes, coaches and colleagues.
