CORVALLIS, Ore.—Mikaela Pitts, Kaviana Jurries, Ava Johnson, and Sophie Patterson finished first as the San José State women’s gymnastics team scored a 195.500 in the first round of the NCAA Corvallis Regional on Thursday.

  • Pitts and Jurries each scored a 9.800 to win and lead the team on vault. They will both compete as individual vault specialists on Friday evening in the Second Round.
  • Johnson won the floor, tying her career-best at 9.875.
  • Patterson won the all-around with a 39.050.
  • After a 48.775 by the vault team in the first round, the bars team scored a 49.000 in the second rotation. Mountain West Bars Champion Samantha Macasu led the team with a 9.850. Genesis PeBenito, Victoria Kisch, and Jurries each scored a 9.800, while Devyn Valuch had a 9.750.
  • The beam team followed with a 48.675, while the floor team recorded the highest SJSU score of the day with a 49.050, led by Johnson’s 9.875.
  • The Spartans fell to Washington, 195.550-195.500, and do not advance to round two.
  • Four Spartans will compete as individuals in the second session Friday night. The meet will be broadcast on ESPN+.
