No. 5 seed Boise State came-from-behind in the final seconds to secure its spot in the semifinals of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Women’s Basketball Championship during Sunday’s quarterfinal win over No. 4 New Mexico.

Boise State established dominance early, keeping the Lobos at least five points behind throughout the first half. As the second quarter drew to a close, the game grew increasingly physical, with both teams racking up fouls. Despite the intensity, the Broncos maintained control, heading into the break with a 35-26 lead.

New Mexico came alive late in the third quarter, clamping down on defense while raising the pace of their offense, trailing 46-42. However, the stakes reached a boiling point when junior guard Cacia Antonio tied the game 48-48, followed by a 3-pointer from their leading scorer Destinee Hooks to get them the lead.

The final minutes of the game saw a flurry of baskets, and a strong display of will on both sides, but the Broncos ultimately secured the win with a two-point floater by Tatum Thompson with just over six seconds left.

Scoring was well-distributed across the Broncos’ roster, with Dani Bayes leading the way with 15 points. The Broncos will face the winner of No. 2 UNLV or No. 7 Fresno State.
