COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV junior guard Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn has been named the Old Trapper Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Utah State guard Elijah Perryman was tabbed the Old Trapper MW Freshman of the Week.
This is the first weekly honor of the season for Perryman and second for Gibbs-Lawhorn.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DRA GIBBS-LAWHORN, UNLV
Junior, Guard, Lafayette, Indiana/Illinois
- Led UNLV to a pair of victories over San José State (82-75) and at Boise State (86-83) in overtime.
- Averaged 30 points, 3.5 rebounds and three assists per game, while shooting 56.1 percent (23-for-41) from the field and 50.0 percent (10-of-20) from long range.
- Scored 25 of his career-high 36 points in the second half against the Broncos, including the game-tying triple. Also tallied three boards and swiped a pair of steals.
- Recorded 24 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals against the Spartans.
MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ELIJAH PERRYMAN, UTAH STATE
Guard, San Francisco, California/Clayton Valley Charter HS
- Helped Utah State to a 2-0 record with wins over Fresno State (91-78) and Memphis (99-75).
- Averaged 13 points and eight assists in two appearances for the Aggies. Also tallied four rebounds and four steals in just over 46 minutes of action.
- Against the Bulldogs, recorded a career-best 16 points behind a 5-of-6 effort from the field, including four triples. Also dished out seven assists and grabbed three boards.
- In the victory over the Tigers, posted nearly a double-double with 10 points and nine assists. Also swiped four steals.
