Colorado Springs, Colo. – Utah State senior Logan Hammer has been named the Mountain West Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, while Aggie teammate Ayodele Ojo was tabbed the MW Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Boise State’s Aayden Simmons was named the MW Men’s Freshman of the Week.

Utah State swept the women’s honors with first-year Aggie Adia Ross earning MW Women’s Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week and sophomore Presley Gray picking up MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
AYODELE OYO, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, Waxahachie, Texas/Waxahachie HS

  • Took first place in the 60-meter sprint at the BYU December Invitational.
  • His time of 6.70 is the third-fastest in program history and third-fastest of any MW athlete this season.
  • The time also ranks 15th overall in the event in Division I.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
LOGAN HAMMER, UTAH STATE
Senior, Nampa, Idaho/Columbia HS

  • Won the pole vault at the BYU December Invitational, breaking his own Utah State record in the event.
  • His mark of 5.63 meters (18-5.5) ranks third in Mountain West history, while it is No. 4 overall in the country this season.
  • Bested the field by over two feet in his winning effort.

MEN’S FRESHMAN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
AAYDEN SIMMONS, BOISE STATE
Helena, Montana/Helena HS

  • Won the high jump and triple jump events at the Spokane Indoor Challenge.
  • His high jump mark of 2.15 meters ranks No. 4 in the nation, while his triple jump of 15.03 meters is 18th overall in Division I.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ADIA ROSS, UTAH STATE
Freshman, Tokyo, Japan/Josai HS

  • Set the Utah State program record in the 60-meters with a time of 7.48, breaking the 38-year old mark set in 1987.
  • Took fourth in her first collegiate 60-meter race at the BYU December Invitational.
  • Her time is tied for third in the conference and first among MW freshman, while it is the 10th-fastest by a freshman in the country so far this season.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
PRESLEY GRAY, UTAH STATE
Sophomore, American Fork, Utah/American Fork HS

  • Won the high jump at the Idaho State Winter Open with a mark of 1.79m (5-10.5).
  • Second-best high jump in the Mountain West and seventh in the country this season.
  • Beat her previous career-best by two inches.
