COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West Board of Directors announced today that Commissioner Gloria Nevarez’s contract has been extended for an additional four years, securing her leadership through December 31, 2030.
Nevarez, who became the Mountain West’s second Commissioner on January 1, 2023, has guided the Conference through a period of significant change and growth. Under her leadership, the Mountain West has strengthened its position nationally, enhanced student-athlete experiences, and implemented innovative strategies to ensure long-term success.
The Mountain West Board of Directors praised Nevarez’s vision and leadership, citing her commitment to advancing the Conference’s strategic priorities and elevating its national profile.
“Commissioner Nevarez has demonstrated exceptional leadership during a period of rapid change across intercollegiate athletics,” said University of Wyoming President and MW Board of Directors Chair Ed Seidel. “Her vision, collaborative approach, and steadfast commitment to student-athlete success have strengthened the Mountain West and positioned us for long-term stability. The Board of Directors is pleased to renew her contract, and we look forward to continuing our work together to advance the conference.”
