COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State’s Taylor Underwood was tabbed the Old Trapper Mountain West Women’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Wyoming’s Sarah Holcomb collected the Defensive Player of the Week award. Utah State rookie Lauren Larkin was named the Freshman of the Week.

This is the third career MW weekly honor for Holcomb and first for Underwood and Larkin.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TAYLOR UNDERWOOD, SAN DIEGO STATE
Senior, Opposite Hitter, Norco, California/DePaul

  • Led the Aztecs to a perfect first week of Conference play with two wins on the road, Fresno State (3-0) and San José State (3-2)
  • Averaged 4.25 kills per set with an efficiency of .389 for SDSU.
  • At Fresno State, logged 12 kills, a hitting percentage of .370 and one service ace.
  • At San José State, tallied a season-high 22 kills, a .400 attack efficiency, one assist and one service ace.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SARAH HOLCOMB, WYOMING
Senior, Middle Blocker, Dallas, Texas/Plano East HS

  • Guided the Cowgirls to a 2-0 week at home to begin league play with wins over fellow Front Range programs, Colorado State (3-2) and Air Force (3-0).
  • Notched a total of 17 blocks on the week, 2.13 per set, for the Brown and Gold.
  • In the Border War match against the Rams, registered three solo blocks and four block assists.
  • Against the Falcons, recorded four solo blocks and six block assists.


FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
LAUREN LARKIN, UTAH STATE
Middle Blocker, St. George, Utah/Desert Hills HS

  • Helped the Aggies to a 2-0 week to start the Conference season with a pair of sweeps over New Mexico and Grand Canyon.
  • Averaged 1.67 kills, 1.33 blocks per set and a .500 hitting percentage.
  • At New Mexico, logged a career-high seven kills, an attack efficiency of .700 and two blocks.
  • At Grand Canyon, notched six blocks, three kills and one dig for Utah State.
