COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Utah State’s Natalie Swain has been named the Mountain West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week and Boise State’s Alex Kilby was selected as the MW Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week. Millie McLelland-Brooks of New Mexico and Nevada’s Elijah Chavez were tabbed the MW Freshmen of the Week.
WOMEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
NATALIE SWAIN, UTAH STATE
Junior, South Jordan, Utah/Bingham HS
- Finished second in the 5k at the Utah State Alumni Challenge with a career-best time of 17:57.9.
- Recorded the fastest collegiate 5k time at the event since 2018.
- Helped the Aggies to a second-place finish overall.
WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MILLIE MCLELLAND-BROOKS, NEW MEXICO
Aberdeen, Scotland/Stewarton Academy
- Placed third in the 5k at the Lori Fitzgerald Open with a time of 17:39.78.
- Was the highest Lobo finisher at the event, clocking the second-fastest time among DI runners.
MEN’S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ALEX KILBY, BOISE STATE
Senior, Cobham, England/ Walton AC
- Took first in the 5k at the Lewis & Clark Invitational with a time of 14:56.88.
- Career-best finish as a Bronco.
- Helped Boise State finish first at the event.
MEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
ELIJAH CHAVEZ, NEVADA
Overland Park, Kansas/ Blue Valley Southwest HS
- Top freshman finisher for the Wolf Pack at the San Francisco Invitational.
- Posted a time of 25.33.3 in the 8k to finish 47th overall in a field that included Cal and Stanford.
