LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV football moved up one spot to No. 23 in the final AP poll released Tuesday morning and remained at No. 24 in the Coaches poll, officially marking the first time in history that the Rebels finished a season ranked.

UNLV, which sat 24th in the final College Football Playoff Rankings last month, went on to close its season with a 24-13 victory over Cal of the ACC in the Art of Sport LA Bowl, marking the program’s school-record fourth win in 2024 over a team from a P5 conference (Houston, Kansas, Oregon State and the Golden Bears) – all coming away from home.

UNLV earned its first-ever Top 25 ranking when it entered USA TODAY’S US LBM Coaches Poll at 25 on Sept. 15 and then joined the AP listing for the first time two weeks later. The Scarlet & Gray reached as high as No. 19 in both polls on Dec. 1.

The Rebels’ final record of 11-3 tied for the second-most wins in school history and the most since 1984. In addition, all three of the team’s losses came against opponents that appeared in Tuesday’s final rankings – in overtime to No. 20/22 Syracuse and to No. 8/9 Boise State during the regular season and in a second straight appearance in the Mountain West Championship game.
