FORT COLLINS – Emma Ronsiek continues to turn heads as the Colorado State forward was named to the midseason watch list for the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award, Her Hoop Stats announced Wednesday morning. The list consists of 15 of the nation’s top players at mid-major programs.
The recognition comes as no surprise as Ronsiek has been one of the most versatile players in the country this season. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native is one of just eight players nationally averaging at least 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game against Division I opponents, joining the likes of JuJu Watkins (Southern California) and Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame). Additionally, Ronsiek is the only player listed as a forward to post such numbers.
Statistically, Ronsiek ranks among the best as she is top 45 in several categories including points (306), 3-point field goals (41) and minutes per game (35.2). A two-time All-BIG EAST First Team selection in her four seasons at Creighton, Ronsiek sits 72 points away from reaching the 2,000 mark in her career. In 132 career games – which includes 126 starts – Ronsiek boasts averages of 14.6 points and 5.3 rebounds.
The Preseason Mountain West Co-Player of the Year is one of two players from the league to make the award’s top 15 as Ronsiek is joined by Fresno State’s Mia Jacobs. Earlier this year, Ronsiek was named to the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Watch List – which recognized the top power forwards in women’s NCAA DI college basketball – as well as the World Exposure Top-50 Mid-Major Women’s Basketball Players to Watch list.
The Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award will announce a 10-player list of semifinalists in February before selecting five finalists in early March. Should Ronsiek be named a semifinalist, it would mark three-straight seasons of Colorado State being represented on the list as McKenna Hofschild did so her junior and senior seasons.
Ronsiek has led the Rams to a 12-5 overall record – including wins over Georgia, Gonzaga and Oregon State – and a 3-1 start to the MW campaign. Colorado State is on the road for a contest against San Diego State tonight (Jan. 15) at 7 p.m. MT and will be back in Moby Arena on Saturday (Jan. 18) at 1 p.m. to take on New Mexico in its annual State Pride game.
