BOISE, Idaho – Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson has been named a finalist for the 2024 George Munger Coach of the Year Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced. Danielson is one of eight finalists and the only one that is in his first season as a head coach.

Danielson has guided the Broncos to a 12-1 record and the No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoff. The Broncos won the Mountain West Championship for the second-straight year, the program’s first time winning back-to-back MW titles. Danielson was named AFCA Region 5 Coach of the Year and MW Coach of the Year.

This season, Boise State ranks third in scoring offense (39.1 ppg), fifth in rushing offense (250.5 ypg) and sixth in total offense (470.2 ypg). The Broncos have 51 sacks, second-most in the nation, and 104 tackles for loss, fourth-most in the country.

Running back Ashton Jeanty was the recipient of the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award while finishing second in Heisman Trophy voting and becoming the first unanimous All-American in program history. Offensive tackle Kage Casey also earned All-America honors and defensive end Ahmed Hassanein was named a finalist for Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year.

Jeanty, Casey and Hassanein were among seven Broncos to earn first team All-MW honors, with the others being offensive guard Ben Dooley, tight end Matt Lauter, linebacker Marco Notarainni and EDGE Jayden Virgin-Morgan. Second team All-MW selections included defensive tackle Braxton Fely and safety Seyi Oladipo. Ty Benefield, Cameron Camper, Jonah Dalmas, Maddux Madsen and Alexander Teubner garnered honorable mention.

The winner of the 2024 George Munger Award will be announced on Jan, 7, 2025. The formal presentation of the George Munger Award will be held on March 14, 2025, at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.

BOISE STATE RETURNS TO FIESTA BOWL
Boise State earned the No. 3 seed and a berth in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl during the first expanded College Football Playoff. The Broncos will face sixth-seeded Penn State at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. The game will air on ESPN. More information about the game is available on BroncoSports.com.
