COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State’s Emma Ronsiek was tabbed the Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while San Diego State’s Naomia Panganiban collected the MW Freshman of the Week nod.
This is the second time both players have been selected as MW Women’s Basketball Players of the Week honors.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
EMMA RONSIEK, COLORADO STATE
Graduate, Forward, Sioux Falls, South Dakota/Creighton
- Led the Rams to a 2-1 week with wins over UTEP (70-52), Georgia (72-56) and a loss to Stephen F. Austin (80-69). The Rams win over Georgia was their first SEC win since 1998
- Averaged 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, four assists and 1.7 steals per game on the week.
- Against UTEP, tallied 13 points, five rebounds, six assists and one steal.
- Against the Georgia Bulldogs, totaled 24 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Shot 69.2 percent from the floor, 80.0 percent from three-point range and was perfect from the charity stripe.
- Against Stephen F. Austin, logged 18 points, three boards, three assists and one steal.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
NAOMI PANGANIBAN, SAN DIEGO STATE
Guard, San Diego, California/La Jolla Country Day
- Helped the Aztecs to a 1-1 week with a win over Hawai’i (54-52) and an overtime loss to Stephen F. Austin (89-80).
- Averaged 21 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and one steal per game.
- Against SFA, registered 18 points, two assists and two rebounds.
- Against Hawai’i, posted 24 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Shot 50 percent from the field, 50 percent from beyond the arc and 75 percent from the free-throw line.
