AUGUSTA, Ga. –San Diego State’s Tyler Pastula (Easton, Pa./UAlbany) has been named the Ray Guy Punter of the Week for week ten of the college football season, the Augusta Sports Council and Ray Guy Award announced Tuesday.
Pastula punted four times against Boise State, totaling 201 yards with a net average of 50.2 yards per punt, a personal best for the senior (minimum four punts). He had two of his punts down inside the 20-yard line including a career long 79-yarder that pinned the Broncos on their own two-yard line. The 79 yards is tied for the longest in FBS this season and tied for the sixth longest in San Diego State program history.
So far this season, the Pennsylvania native has punted 41 times for 1,870 yards, averaging 45.6 yards per punt with 11 going for 50-plus yards and 13 inside the 20. He currently ranks first in the Mountain West in punt yards per game (233.75, 10th in FBS), second in punt average (45.61, 13th in FBS), total punts per game (5.13, T-13th in FBS), total punt yards (1,870, 14th in FBS) and total punts (41, T-23rd in FBS), fourth in net punt average (41.32, 34th in FBS) and tied for fourth in punts inside the 20-yard line (13, T-35th in FBS).
