BOISE, Idaho – The Boise State offense exploded for over 50 points for the fourth time this season and the defense netted a season-low in yards allowed as the team cruised past San Diego State 56-24 Friday night at Albertsons Stadium.
The Broncos (7-1, 4-0 Mountain West) jumped on the Aztecs (3-5, 2-1 MW) quickly, with Maddux Madsen finding Latrell Caples in the end zone on back-to-back offensive drives. The duo connected again for a third time of the half, giving Boise State a 35-10 advantage at the break.
HEI2MAN-candidate Ashton Jeanty ran for over 100 yards for a program-record eighth-straight contest, finishing the game with 149 yards and two scores on the ground. He passed his former teammate, George Holani (2019-23), to move into the top five in program history with 3,693 career rushing yards.
Madsen recorded one of his best games as a Bronco, finishing with career-highs in passing yards (307), passing touchdowns (4) and completions (24) in the victory.
Defensively, Boise State held the Aztecs to 256 total yards, the lowest yardage the Broncos have conceded all season. The team recorded a pair of interceptions in the opening period that added to the first-quarter attack – A’Marion McCoy scored on a 35-yard interception return late in the first frame, while Alexander Teubner netted his second career interception on the ensuing drive. Teubner led the team with six tackles in the contest, while Jayden Virgin-Morgan finished with 1.5 sacks.

- Latrell Caples caught a career-high three touchdown passes in the victory. The redshirt senior receiver also recorded a career-high 90 receiving yards and matched his career-best with six receptions.

- Ashton Jeanty’s 149-yard performance marks his eighth consecutive contest with 100+ rushing yards, a school-record. He passed Jay Ajayi, who did so in seven consecutive games in 2014. It also ties him with Donnel Pumphrey (San Diego State, 2015) for the second-longest streak in MW history.
- Boise State scored 56 points, marking the fourth time this season the squad has notched over 50 points. It is the first time the Broncos have scored 50+ points four times in a season since 2015, when they did so five times.
- The Broncos recorded two interceptions in the first quarter, marking the first time Boise State recorded two interceptions in a quarter since Nov. 22, 2022 when Gabe Hunter and Seyi Oladipo both had an interception in the fourth frame against Utah State.
- Latrell Caples caught three touchdown passes in the first half, becoming the first Bronco to catch three touchdowns in a half since Cedrick Wilson did so on Oct, 7, 2016 against New Mexico.
- Maddux Madsen is the first quarterback to throw for over 300 yards since Taylen Green threw for 317 yards against Colorado State on Oct. 29, 2022.
What’s Next
Boise State will remain in the Treasure Valley with a contest against Nevada on Saturday, Nov. 9. An official kickoff time will be announced on Sunday.
