LAS VEGAS – No. 17 Boise State utilized a complete team effort to outlast UNLV, 29-24, Friday night in a heavyweight bout at Allegiant Stadium.

With the victory, the Broncos (6-1, 3-0 Mountain West) are now bowl-eligible for the 27th consecutive season, the second-longest active streak in the country. Boise State’s 6-1 start is its best start since 2019.

Trailing by one point early in the fourth quarter, Heisman-candidate Ashton Jeanty punched the ball in on a fourth-down conversion – the team’s fourth of the contest – from a yard out to give the Broncos the lead. The Boise State defense held the Rebels (6-2, 2-1 MW) in check on the ensuing drive, forcing them to punt with 8:07 remaining on the clock. The Broncos were able to run the clock out to ensure the victory.

Maddux Madsen had an impressive showing for the Broncos, throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown while adding 58 yards and a score on the ground. The redshirt sophomore found nine different receivers in the victory with five different receivers hauling in multiple passes.

After trailing 10-3 following the first quarter, Boise State rattled off 17 consecutive points in the second stanza. Madsen scored off a 7-yard rush to give the Broncos a 13-10 advantage with 1:50 left in the first half. On the ensuing possession, Andrew Simpson recorded his third career interception to give the Broncos the ball in the red zone. Madsen found Lauter in the back of the end zone with six seconds remaining in the half to give Boise State a 20-10 lead at intermission.

A third Jonah Dalmas field goal extended the Bronco lead to 23-17 midway through the third, but a 34-yard touchdown reception gave the Rebels a 24-23 lead heading into the final frame. The Broncos responded, embarking on a eight-play, 75-yard drive capped off by Jeanty’s touchdown rush.
