COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Five Mountain West football players collected national honors as several organizations announced midseason All-America honors this week.

Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty, a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy, was a first-team selection by the Associated Press, The Athletic, Athlon Sports, CBS Sports, Pro Football Focus and Sporting News. He was unanimously selected by the AP and CBS Sports.

Jeanty was joined on the AP first team by San José State wide receiver Nick Nash and San Diego State edge Trey White. Nash also earned first-team honors from Athlon Sports, while White claimed first-team distinction from Sporting News.

White, Boise State offensive lineman Kage Casey and UNLV safety Jalen Catalon were second-team selections by Athlon Sports, while White and Catalon took second-team honors from The Athletic.

Jeanty leads the FBS in several categories, including rushing yards (1,248), rushing yards per game (208.0), yards per carry (9.9), rushing touchdowns (17) and yards after contact (914). He also leads the country in total touchdowns (18), total points scored (108), all-purpose yards (1,287), all-purpose yards per game (214.5) and missed tackles forced (58).

His 914 yards after contact are more than the rushing yards total of all but one FBS player, Iowa’s Kaleb Johnson (937). He has more rushing yards than 106 FBS teams and only 14 FBS teams have more rushing touchdowns than him, including three that have played seven games.

Jeanty has earned MW Offensive Player of the Week honors five times and Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week distinction three times this season. He holds the Boise State career record for 200-yard rushing games (5) and is tied for the school record in consecutive 100-yard rushing games (6) and career 200-yard all-purpose games (8).

Casey paces an offensive line that has helped Jeanty produce those prodigious numbers. The duo has helped the Broncos to a No. 15 national ranking in the AP poll and the No. 19 spot in the US LBM Coaches (AFCA) poll.

Nash leads the FBS in receiving touchdowns (10), receptions per game (10.3) and total receptions (62) and is second in receiving yards (806) and receiving yards per game (134.3). He has also thrown for two touchdowns, making him the first Mountain West player to have at least 10 receiving touchdowns and two passing touchdowns in a season.

Against Kennesaw State, Nash was the first FBS player since Nevada’s Romeo Doubs against Fresno State (10/23/21) to have 17 or more catches in a single game. He finished the contest with a career-high 225 receiving yards and three touchdowns in earning MW Offensive Player of the Week honors. Nash also had 16 catches against Washington State.

White has totaled 32 tackles this season and leads the FBS in sacks (11), sacks per game (1.83), tackles for loss (15), tackles for loss per game (2.5) and tackles for loss yards (91). He is currently ahead of the pace for the FBS single-season sacks per game record of 1.71, set by Arizona State’s Terrell Suggs in 2002, and already seventh in SDSU history in total sacks in a season.

He has four straight games with multiple sacks, including three apiece at Central Michigan on Sept. 28 and vs. Hawai’i on Oct. 5 en route to being named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7 for the first time of his career.

Catalon has 45 tackles on the year so far, including 28 solo stops. He is second in the FBS with four interceptions and 0.7 per game. Catalon was the MW Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 30 after posting 10 tackles and an interception in UNLV’s 59-14 win over Fresno State in the Rebels’ MW opener.
