BOISE, Idaho – Boise State jumped four spots in the Associated Press Top 25 poll Sunday, up to No. 21 following a decisive 45-24 win over previously unbeaten Washington State.
The No. 21 billing is the highest the Broncos have been listed since Nov. 1, 2020. This week’s elevation mimicked that 2020 season when a 49-30 win at Air Force pushed the Broncos up four spots from No. 25 to No. 21 in a week’s time.
Boise State (3-1) already holds the distinction of the nation’s best record while ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. Following last night’s win, the Blue and Orange are now 114-21 (.844) while ranked by the AP, the best record of any team over the past 40 years. Alabama, ranked No. 4 in both polls, follows Boise State with a 328-68-2 (.827) mark while ranked by the AP. The Crimson Tide upset second-ranked Georgia on Saturday, 41-34.
The Broncos received 253 votes in this week’s AP poll, an increase of 184 votes from last week’s No. 25 ranking. In the US LBM Coaches Poll, Boise State received 103 votes, finishing one spot out of the Top 25. Illinois, ranked No. 25 in that poll, received 122 points.
A stadium-record crowd of 37,711 was on hand to witness Boise State’s win Saturday night, the second of three consecutive sellouts at Albertsons Stadium. The next Albertsons Stadium sellout is set for this coming Saturday when the Broncos open Mountain West play by hosting Utah State. It is also Homecoming and Parents & Family weekend.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
