RENO, Nev. – Nevada RHP Jason Doktorczyk was selected in the ninth round (No. 278 overall) of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, Monday.

Doktorczyk is Nevada’s eighth MLB Draft selection since 2019, and the third pitcher tabbed over the past two seasons. Kade Morris (third round, New York Mets) and Peyton Stumbo (20th round, Pittsburgh Pirates) heard their names called last year.

Over his two seasons (2023-24) at Nevada, Doktorczyk struck out 150 batters over 148.1 innings of work, picking up eight wins. He posted a strikeout-to-walk ratio of over 4:1 over 25 career appearances (all starts). In 2024, he posted an ERA of 3.21, improving his previous season’s total by over three runs.

The Seal Beach, Calif., native took the hill for every series opener for the Pack in 2024, going 4-4 with a team-best 72 strikeouts. The Wolf Pack’s ace finished second in conference play in strikeouts and innings pitched (65.2), while ranking tied for fourth in wins and fifth in ERA (4.25).

Doktorczyk allowed three-or-less earned runs in eight of his 10 Mountain West starts, struck out at least eight in five, and went at least six innings in seven. He was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week in back-to-back weeks, following outings against San José State (April 12 – career-high 12 strikeouts, one earned run allowed over seven innings) and at UNLV (April 19 – eight strikeouts, three hits, one earned run over eight innings).
