Colorado Springs, Colo. – Utah State newcomer Landon Bott has been named the Mountain West Men’s Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week, while Wyoming junior Daniel Reynolds was tabbed the MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

New Mexico newcomer Mercy Kirarei has been selected as the MW Women’s Track Athlete and Freshman of the Week, while Fresno State junior Rachela Pace was named the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK 
LANDON BOTT, UTAH STATE
Freshman, North Salt Lake, Utah/Woods Cross HS

  • Won the 800-meter run at the New Mexico Team Open with a time of 1:49.05, the third-fastest time in school history.
  • Time ranks first in the Mountain West and 28th in the NCAA this season. It’s also the sixth-best time by a freshman in the nation.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK 
DANIEL REYNOLDS, WYOMING
Junior, Granby, Colorado/Chadron State

  • Won the weight throw at the Bobcat Challenge with a personal-best mark of 21.57 meters, which ranks first in the Mountain West and 16th in the nation in 2023-24.
  • Weight throw mark is sixth in school history and fourth in MW history.
  • Also placed third in the shot put with a throw of 16.10 meters.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE/FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MERCY KIRAREI, NEW MEXICO
Freshman, Eldoret, Kenya/Moi Girls’ HS

  • Won the 3,000-meter run at the New Mexico Team Open with a time of 9:03.6.
  • Time ranks first in the Conference and 17th in the NCAA this season.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
RACHELA PACE, FRESNO STATE
Junior, Dingli, Malta/De La Salle College

  • Won the long jump at the UW Invitational with a mark of 6.31 meters.
  • Jump ranks first in the Mountain West and No. 12 in the nation this season.
