DALLAS – Boise State student-athletes Cade Beresford and DJ Schramm added to the Broncos’ growing list of preseason recognition, Tuesday.
Beresford has been named to the watch list for the Outland Trophy, presented to the nation’s top interior lineman. Schramm has earned a place on the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, awarded to college football’s best defensive player.
The accolades add to the duo’s preseason honors, as they had both previously been selected to the 2023 Preseason All-Mountain West Team, Athlon Preseason All-MW First Team and the Phil Steele All-MW Preseason First Team.
A returning All-MW Second Team member, Beresford was one of five players from the MW on the Outland Trophy Watch List. The Woodinville, Wash., native started in all 13 games in which he appeared last season and returns for his second season with the Broncos after playing three seasons at Washington State.
Schramm, one of six players from MW schools to appear on the Bronko Nagurski Watch List, started in each of Boise State’s 14 games in 2022. The Fresno, Calif., native was a second-team All-MW selection last season, leading the team in total tackles (119), solo tackles (53) and tackles-for-loss (12).
Finalists for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be selected on Nov. 15, with a winner announced on Dec. 4. The Outland Trophy will announce three semifinalists before announcing a winner at the The Home Depot College Football Awards show on Dec. 7.
