2025 Mountain West Football Tiebreaker Scenarios

Head-to-head winning percentages among the tied teams are compared in a mini round-robin format until one or more teams gain an advantage or the process reverts to the two-team tiebreak format. If, within the mini round-robin, the teams remain tied or any of the tied teams did not play each other, the group of teams shall remain tied, unless one team defeated all other tied teams.

6-2 Scenarios
If Boise State, New Mexico, San Diego State, and UNLV are 6-2:
BSU – 2-1, NM – 2-1, SD – 1-1, LV – 0-2 – Because not all teams within the tied group played each other, the participants will be determined by metrics Sunday morning

If Boise State, New Mexico, and San Diego State are 6-2:
BSU – 1-1, NM 1-1, SD 1-1 – All teams played each other but because the tie wasn’t broken by the records within the tied group, the participants will be determined by metrics Sunday morning
