LAS VEGAS – The Mountain West announced the Old Trapper Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week today.
Hawai’i’s
Panna Ratkai was tabbed the MW Offensive Player of the Week, while UC Davis’s
Ximena Cordero Barr collected the MW Defensive Player of the Week honor for the second consecutive week. UTEP rookie
Mackenzi Davis was named the MW Freshman of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
PANNA RATKAI, HAWAI’I
Senior, Outside, Budapest, Hungary/Dayton
- Led the Rainbow Wahine to a 3-0 week with wins over Utah Tech (3-0), LMU (3-0) and UC San Diego (3-2).
- The senior averaged 4.0 kills across 13 sets of action for a total of 52 kills, also contributed five service aces.
- Against Utah Tech, notched 12 kills.
- Against LMU, tallied a season-high 21 kills and three service aces.
- Against UC San Diego, collected 19 kills and two service aces.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
XIMENA CORDERO BARR, UC DAVIS
Junior, Libero, Tijuana, Mexico/Otay Ranch HS
- Helped the Aggies to a 1-1 week with a loss to San Diego State (0-3) and a victory against (RV) Cal Poly.
- The junior collected 39 digs and a .980 reception efficiency.
- Against San Diego State, recorded 17 digs and a perfect reception percentage on 11 attempts.
- Against Cal Poly, notched 22 digs and logged a .974 reception percentage on 38 attempts.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MACKENZI DAVIS, UTEP
Freshman, Outside, Melissa, Texas/Melissa HS
- Helped UTEP to a 3-0 weekend, and a Southwest Showdown title, with wins over Texas State (3-2), Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (3-1) and UTRGV (3-2).
- Averaged a .300 hitting efficiency with 27 kills, contributed nine digs and 11 blocks for the Miners, eight of which were solo blocks.
- Against Texas State, registered eight kills, three digs and three solo blocks.
- At Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, logged three kills, four digs and four blocks.
- Against UTRGV, amassed a career-high 16 kills with a hitting percentage of .500, also tallied two digs and four blocks.
