UNLV's Hannah Jones Named Credit Union 1 Community Champion

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – UNLV women’s swimming & diving student-athlete Hannah Jones has been named the Credit Union 1 Community Champion, recognizing her exceptional dedication to civic engagement, leadership, and service in Las Vegas.

CU1 will make a $500 donation in Jones’ name to The Children’s Foundation.

Jones, a senior from Las Vegas, has consistently demonstrated a commitment to serving others through her involvement in UNLV Athletics Community Engagement initiatives. Additionally, she initiated the organization of volunteer opportunities beyond those coordinated by the department.

Jones has volunteered at the Girls on the Run 5K, leading warm-ups for participants and serving as an encouraging presence for young girls, showing them that they have the strength to overcome challenges and reach their goals. She has also spearheaded the team's participation in Operation Christmas Child, organizing volunteers to pack shoeboxes with essential items and gifts for children around the world.

Most recently, Jones rallied the women's swimming team to create handmade cards for nursing home residents. Through a partnership with Uplifting Deliveries, the cards were delivered directly to elderly residents, bringing joy, encouragement and a sense of connection to others in the community.

Her leadership, initiative and genuine passion for service reflect the best of what UNLV Athletics stands for, both in and out of the pool. Jones continually seeks ways to make a meaningful difference and motivates her teammates to do the same.

The Credit Union 1 Community Champion Award is presented quarterly during the 2025-26 academic year and recognizes student-athletes who exceed expectations in their efforts to serve others, foster meaningful partnerships, and drive positive change. Jone’s work stands as a model for what it means to be a leader both in and out of the pool.
