Mountain West Announces 2026-27 Preseason Women's Basketball Honors

LAS VEGAS – The Mountain West released its 2026-27 Preseason All-Conference Women’s Basketball team and preseason winners on Wednesday, in conjunction with the start of the MW Basketball Media Day.

As selected by the league’s 10 head coaches and select media, the preseason team is made up of three seniors, four juniors and three sophomores.

UNLV junior Meadow Roland was named the Mountain West Preseason Player of the Year, while Grand Canyon graduate transfer T’yana Todd was selected as the MW Preseason Newcomer of the Year and Lopes rookie Lanelle Wright was voted as the MW Preseason Freshman of the Year.

Roland, a forward from Fresno, California, is coming off a 2025-26 campaign in which she earned All-MW first-team honors and was named to the MW All-Defensive team. Last season, she led the league in blocked shots with 55 and ranked second in rebounds per game with 9.48. Offensively, Roland averaged 14.9 points per game, which ranked fourth in the MW. She is the first Lady Rebel to earn MW Preseason Player of the Year recognition since 2022-23 (Desi-Rae Young).

Todd spent three seasons at Boston College before playing for Ohio State in 2025-26. She has made 81 starts and appeared in 122 games over the last four seasons, averaging 9.7 points per game while shooting 40% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. Last year for the Buckeyes, the 6-foot guard totaled 131 points, 37 rebounds, 16 assists and 16 steals in 35 games, registering nine starts.

Wright, a former McDonald’s All-America nominee, is a four-star guard from Minnetonka High School. 247Sports ranked her as the No. 69 recruit nationally and third best in Minnesota. The 5-foot-9 freshman totaled more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in high school and was named a two-time Adidas All-American. She helped lead her team to back-to-back state championships as a sophomore and junior.

Joining Roland and Todd on the Preseason All-Mountain West team are Air Force’s Jayda McNabb, Grand Canyon’s Chloe Mann, Hawai‘i’s Bailey Flavell, Nevada’s Sierra Chambers, New Mexico’s Laila Abdurraqib, UNLV’s Jasmyn Lott, UC Davis’ Avery Sussex and Wyoming’s Jane Rumpf.
