AROUND THE MOUNTAIN WEST

  • Fresno State’s Emilia Long and UNLV’s Shelbee Brown have each recorded at least four steals in both of their games this season. The only player in MW history to start a season with a longer such streak was San Diego State’s Jene Morris in 2009-10.
  • Wyoming’s Malene Pedersen has scored in double figures in 21 straight games, 15 games longer than any other active streak by a MW player – Boise State’s Tatum Thompson is next with six. Pedersen’s streak is tied for the seventh-longest active streak by any D1 player.
  • UNLV’s Meadow Roland is one of two DI players leading her conference in both blocks and rebounds this season while also ranking in the top five in points, joining Albany’s Amaya Stewart.
  • In Boise State’s win over San Francisco, the Broncos shot 52.6% (10-19) from three and 93.8% (15-16) from the free-throw line. The only other teams in MW history to post such high percentages (min. 15 3PA and FTA) in a game are Colorado State (12/5/23 vs. High Point) and BYU (1/19/2002 vs. Air Force).
  • Dating back to last season, Colorado State has won the turnover battle in 17 consecutive games. The only other DI team with an active streak of more than seven straight games is UConn (25).
  • Mountain West women’s basketball logged a nonconference win percentage of .587 in 2024-25, which was its best since the 2009-10 season, when the league went 79-48 (.622).
  • Four MW programs competed in postseason tournaments last season; Air Force (WNIT), San Diego State (NCAA), UNLV (WBIT), Wyoming (WBIT).
  • The MW welcomes three new head coaches to the league: Ryan McCarthy (Fresno State), Winston Gandy (Grand Canyon) and Jonas Chatterton (San José State).
  • UNLV’s Destiny Leo has been named to the 2026 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award watch list. Leo is one of 20 student-athletes on the list.
  • UNLV’s Lindy La Rocque has been named to the 2026 Kathy Delaney-Smith Coach of the Year preseason watch list.
