COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced the Old Trapper Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week today, following the first week of the 2025 season. Utah State’s Tierney Barlow was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week. Boise State’s Bre Mitchell was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Grand Canyon’s Bella Nunez picked up the Freshman of the Week nod.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
TIERNEY BARLOW, UTAH STATE
Senior, Middle Blocker, Colorado Springs, Colorado/Wyoming

  • Guided Utah State to a 1-2 week at the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic.
  • Average 3.15 kills per set and logged a .385 hitting percentage.
  • Against San Diego, tallied 14 kills and two service aces across the five-set battle.
  • Against Hawai’i, notched 14 kills on a .600 attack efficiency.
  • Against Marquette, registered 13 kills and two assists for the Aggies.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
BRE MITCHELL, BOISE STATE
Senior, Libero, Temecula, Calif./Linfield Christian HS

  • Helped the Broncos to a 3-0 week at the Utah Valley Invitational with wins over Navy (3-2), Montana (3-0) and Utah Valley (3-2).
  • Averaged 5.62 digs per set and a reception percentage of .978 across 13 sets of action.
  • Against Navy, logged a career-high 32 digs and a perfect reception percentage.
  • Against Montana, collected 18 digs.
  • Against Utah Valley, picked up 23 digs and was perfect on 24 reception attempts.
  • Mitchell was named to the All-Utah Valley Invitational Team.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BELLA NUNEZ, GRAND CANYON
Setter/Opposite, El Paso, Texas/Americas HS

  • Led the Lopes to a three-sweep week at the GCU Invitational, picking up wins against Long Island, UT Rio Grande Valley and Gonzaga.
  • Averaged 2.67 kills, 4.78 assists, 2.89 digs, 1.33 blocks, 3.56 points and 0.22 service aces.
  • Against LIU, tallied eight kills on a .800 attack percentage, 16 assists, 12 digs and two blocks.
  • Against UTRGV, recorded 10 kills, 15 assists, eight digs, six blocks and one service ace.
  • Against the Zags, picked up six kills, 12 assists, six digs, four blocks and one service ace.
  • The Texas native was named to the GCU Invitational All-Tournament Team.
