GOLD CANYON, Ariz.—Lucia Lopez Ortega finished her Spartan career with a clean card on Wednesday to lead the San José State women’s golf team to a seventh-place finish at the NCAA Gold Canyon Regional at the Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club.

  • Lopez Ortega shot a 2-under 70 for the final round and finished tied for 33rd at 10-over 226.
  • She made eight consecutive pars on the front nine and back nine, making birdies on #9 and #18, her final collegiate hole.
  • Lopez Ortega finishes her four-year Spartan career with a 72.67 stroke average, a four-time first team All-Mountain West honoree and picked up two conference trophies in the past month – Mountain West Women’s Golfer of the Year and Mountain West Individual Champion.
  • Nicola Kaminski recorded her best three rounds of the season, finishing the tournament with a 1-over 73 to tie for 14th place at 4-over 220.
  • She made four birdies over her final round to record her third top-20 finish of the season.
  • Isabella Cioe shot a 3-over 75 and tied for 30th at 9-over 225. She had a clean final nine holes, making seven pars and two birdies, including on #18, to finish her first year at SJSU.
  • Rebecca Gyllner recorded her best round of the regional with a 2-over 74 and tied for 37th at 11-over 227.
  • Moa Andersson had her lowest round of the regional with a 1-over 73 and tied for 28th at 14-over 230.
  • SJSU finished seventh in the team standings at 26-over 890, two shots behind sixth-place Auburn and three shots from fifth-place Cal State Fullerton.
  • The Spartans recorded their best round of the tournament with a 1-over 289.
  • All four counting players birdied hole 18 and were under par on the back nine.
  • The Spartans were third in par-5 scoring at -6.
