BERKELEY, Calif. – Boise State men’s tennis came up short Friday afternoon in Berkeley, California, falling 4-1 to the 11th-ranked Cal Golden Bears.
Boise State’s Taiyo Kurata and Julius Seifert led the Broncos during doubles, claiming the lone victory 6-4 at the No. 2 position. Cal took the team point 2-1 to gain the early advantage.
Heading into singles, the Blue and Orange needed to win four of the six matches. Idriss Haddouch started things rolling for Boise State with a quick two-set victory, 6-3, 6-0, on court five to even the team score at 1-1.
Cal came back winning the next three singles matches to claim the 4-1 victory over the Broncos.
Notables
- Taiyo Kurata and Julius Seifert won their 10th match as a doubles team.
- Idriss Haddouch won his 16th consecutive match to improve to 21-10 overall and 16-1 this spring.
- This was the third straight NCAA tournament for Boise State and its 21st appearance in program history; the Broncos are 7-21 overall all-time.
- Boise State finishes the year at 21-6 overall, recording the program’s 22nd season with 20-plus wins.
