COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fresno State sophomore James Watney has been named the Mountain West Men’s Golfer of the Week and Wyoming’s Brody Leid is the MW Freshman of the Week.
The MW honor is the first for Watney and second for Leid, who was the MW Freshman of the Month for November.

JAMES WATNEY, FRESNO STATE
Sophomore, Clovis, California/Buchannan HS
- Tied for second at the Nick Watney Invite at Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno, California, firing a career-best 9-under-par 204 to help Fresno State to the team win in a playoff.
- Carded three straight rounds of 3-under 68 for his best career finish.
- Posted his second top-10 finish of the season.
- Helped the Bulldogs win their home tournament for the first time since 2002.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BRODY LEID, WYOMING
Freshman, Phoenix, Arizona/Corona Del Sol HS
- Tied for 22nd at the Wyoming Desert Classic, hosted by the Cowboys at the Classic Club in Palm Desert, California.
- Shot a 3-under-par 213, opening with a 1-over 73 before carding a 3-under 69 and a 1-under 71 for his career-best place finish.
- Collected 12 birdies for the tournament, including five in the second round.
- Helped the Cowboys to a sixth-place team finish.
