Colorado Springs, Colo. – For a second straight week New Mexico has swept the Mountain West track weekly honors with Brodie Young earning Men’s Track Athlete of the Week and Lou-Anne Pouzancre Hoyer named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Air Force’s Brayden Richards picked up the MW Men’s Field Athlete and Freshman of the Week, while Nevada’s Meekness Dogonyaro garnered her second MW Women’s Field Athlete of the season. Utah State’s Presley Gray rounded out the awards as the MW Women’s Freshman of the Week.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE THE WEEK
BRODIE YOUNG, NEW MEXICO
Junior, Glasgow, Scotland/Lenzie Academy
- Ran a personal-best 45.96 in the 400 meter at the UNM Collegiate Classic, a time that is currently No. 13 in NCAA, ranks second in the Mountain West all-time and 30th among collegiate performances at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
- Finished fifth in the event in a field that featured 24 men’s and women’s squad that were ranked Top 50 in the nation entering the competition.
- Also competed on the Lobo 4×400 team, posting the fastest split (45.37) to help the relay team to its fastest time of the season (3:11.29).
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
BRAYDEN RICHARDS, AIR FORCE
Freshman, Perry, Ohio/Perry HS
- Made collegiate debut in the heptathlon at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational, collecting 5,249 points to finish sixth overall, the best placement by an underclassman.
- The total score is the seventh-best mark in program history and a new freshman class record, besting the previous mark by 81 points.
- Recorded the top heptathlon total by a freshman in the Mountain West this year and the third-best overall.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
LOU-ANNE POUZANCRE HOYER, NEW MEXICO
Senior, Sardan, France/Albert Camu HS/Charleston (W.V.)
- In her 400 meter debut at the UNM Collegiate Classic, ran the second-fastest time in program history and the fastest in the Mountain West this year with a 52.80.
- Finished fifth behind four performances that rank top 15 in the nation with her time ranking No. 22 overall.
- Ran the final leg of the Lobo women’s 4×400 relay that broke the program record (3:36.44 altitude converted), closing with a 53.83 split.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MEEKNESS DOGONYARO, NEVADA
Senior, Kaduna, Nigeria/Obotebe Secondary School
- Finished first in the Triple Jump at the Wolf Pack Classic, winning the event for a second consecutive meet.
- Recorded a distance of 12.93 meters, the best triple jump mark in the Mountain West last week.
- The mark is the third-best of her career while she sits at No. 32 in the NCAA in the event and No. 3 amongst sophomores.
WOMEN’S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
PRESLEY GRAY, UTAH STATE
Freshman, American Fork, Utah/American Fork HS
- Finished first in the high jump at the Stacy Dragila Invitational, clearing.1.73 (5-8) meters, one centimeter shy of her personal-best.
- Tied for sixth-best in the Mountain West this season and second-highest by a freshman.
