COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico senior forward Nelly Junior Joseph has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while San Diego State’s Magoon Gwath was selected as the MW Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.
This is the third weekly honor for Junior Joseph in 2024-25 and second in a row for Gwath.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
NELLY JUNIOR JOSEPH, NEW MEXICO
Senior, Forward, Benin City, Nigeria/Iona
- Led New Mexico to an 82-63 win at Utah State, claiming sole possession of first place in the Mountain West.
- Posted a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Also added one assist and one block.
- Shot 100 percent from the field, making all seven attempts from the floor.
MEN’S BASKETBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MAGOON GWATH, SAN DIEGO STATE
Forward, Euless, Texas/Veritas Prep
- Helped San Diego State to a pair of victories over San José State (71-68) and Wyoming (63-61).
- Nearly averaged a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds per game, while connecting on 51.9 percent of attempts from the floor.
- Against the Spartans, registered 24 points, seven boards, an assist and a block.
- Posted 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks against the Cowboys.
