Colorado Springs, Colo. – New Mexico’s Collins Kiprotich and Pamela Kosgei have been named the Mountain West Men’s and Women’s Track Athletes of the Week, respectively, while the pair of first-year runners also picked up the MW Freshman of the Week honors after record-setting performances.
Wyoming’s Daniel Reynolds earned his second MW Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honor and Nevada’s Meekness Dogonyaro was named the MW Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
COLLINS KIPROTICH, NEW MEXICO
Freshman, Eldoret, Kenya/ M.O.I. Secondary School Chuiyat
- Won the mile at New Mexico’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational with a time of 3:58.60, breaking the Lobo program record and running the fastest collegiate indoor mile at elevation all-time.
- Beat a field that included professional runner Waleed Suliman.
- The converted time of 3:53.41 ranks No. 3 in the nation, leads the Mountain West and is good for No. 13 on the USTFCCCA all-time collegiate indoor list.

DANIEL REYNOLDS, WYOMING
Senior, Granby, Colorado/Granby HS/Chadron State
- Broke his own program and Mountain West record in the weight throw at Montana State’s Bobcat Challenge.
- Won the event with a throw of 23.69m (77′ 8.75″), besting his previous mark of 22.89m that he set in the first meet of the season in December.
- Best weight throw distance of any Mountain West athlete this season by over a meter and sixth-best in the country so far.
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE & FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
PAMELA KOSGEI, NEW MEXICO
Freshman, Elgeyo-Marakwet County, Kenya/St. Agatha Mokpo Girls School
- Finished first in the mile at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational with a time of 4:36.70, marking the fastest women’s collegiate indoor mile ever ran at elevation.
- Her altitude converted time of 4:30.68 broke the Lobo program record of 4:31.07 set by Weini Kelati in 2019.
- The converted time also ranks among the Top 40 in collegiate history, stands at No. 4 in the nation this season and leads the Mountain West.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
MEEKNESS DOGONYARO, NEVADA
Sophomore, Kaduna, Nigeria/Obotebe Secondary School
- Won the Triple Jump at the Nevada Invitationals & Multis with a mark of 12.97 meters, which ranks second all-time in program history and is 2cm off the record.
- The mark ranks 25th in the NCAA this season and is the third-best by a sophomore.
