COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico junior guard Donovan Dent has been named the Mountain West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while San Diego State’s Magoon Gwath was selected as the MW Men’s Basketball Freshman of the Week.
This is the third weekly honor for Dent in 2024-25 and first for Gwath.
MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DONOVAN DENT, NEW MEXICO
Junior, Guard, Riverside, California/Centennial
- Led to a 2-0 record last week with wins over Fresno State (95-67) and at UNLV (75-73).
- Averaged 27 points, 5.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 57.9 percent for the field in two starts.
- Against the Bulldogs, posted 20 points, nine assists and no turnovers, becoming the only player in the nation to record multiple games with 20 points, nine assists and no turnovers.
- Recorded 34 points, behind a 13-for-21 effort from the floor. Also had two assists and a rebound.

MAGOON GWATH, SAN DIEGO STATE
Forward, Euless, Texas/Veritas Prep
- Helped San Diego State to a pair of road victories over Air Force (77-76) in overtime and Nevada (69-50).
- Averaged a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds per game, while connecting on 71.4 percent of attempts from the floor.
- Against the Falcons, registered nine points, seven boards, three assists and two blocks.
- Posted 15 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks against the Wolf Pack.
