PALM DESERT, Calif. – Winning plays, Colorado State was unable to make them down the stretch against Washington yesterday, but they made them today to defeat TCU 76-72 in overtime Friday afternoon.

The win was No. 200 of head coach Niko Medved‘s career. That was not the only career milestone accomplished by a Ram in the game. Nique Clifford eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark with his 25. He sits at 1,010 for his career.

Clifford had a complete game for the Rams picking up his third double-double of the year with 25 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and three blocks.

Leading most of the second half, Colorado State found themselves down three inside a minute after a Horned Frogs 9-2 run. Bowen Born hit the game-tying three with 52 seconds left to force overtime.

The three was his third of the game. The other two came earlier in the second half to spark CSU’s offense and cap off a 10-0 run.

Tied two minutes into the extra five-minute period, CSU took the lead for good on a Jalen Lake jumper with 2:50 remaining. The Rams proceeded to make four straight stops defensively and expand the lead to six.

Colorado State’s defense played well all-day holding TCU to 33.9% shooting. The Horned Frogs trailed the Rams by one at half thanks to making seven 3-pointers. They stayed in the game in the second half on part to making 19 of their 24 free throw attempts.

Senior Jalen Lake was key to CSU’s first half lead scoring a team-high 11 points including connecting on three triples. He finished the day with 15 points.
