Nevada Predicted to Win 2017-18 Mountain West Men's Basketball Regular-Season Title

LAS VEGAS – Defending Mountain West men’s basketball regular-season and tournament champion Nevada has been predicted to repeat in 2017-18, according to a vote by the Conference media. The league’s predicted order of finish was announced today by the Mountain West at Media Summit, being held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – Las Vegas.
 
The Wolf Pack received 19 of a possible 24 first-place votes and 257 points to earn the top spot in the poll. San Diego State garnered two first-place nods and 229 points overall to land in the second spot, while Boise State also collected two first-place votes and a total of 211 points to finish third.
 
Fresno State collected 188 points to garner the fourth spot in the poll. Colorado State was fifth with 154 points, while UNLV landed in sixth with 138 points and the final first-place vote. Rounding out the poll were Wyoming (133 points) in seventh, Utah State (102 points) in eighth, New Mexico (93 points) in ninth, San José State (41 points) in 10th and Air Force (38 points) in 11th.
 
Nevada is coming off a 28-7 overall record and a 14-4 mark in Mountain West play in 2016-17. The Wolf Pack won the Conference’s regular-season and tournament titles for the first time since joining the league prior to the 2012-13 season. Nevada garnered a number-12 seed in the NCAA Tournament where it fell to No. 5 Iowa State in the first round of the Midwest Regional. Head coach Eric Musselman returns a pair of starters, including preseason all-Conference selection Jordan Caroline. The Wolf Pack’s lineup will also feature preseason MW Newcomer of the Year honoree Caleb Martin.
